T.A.G.'s philosophy is...

We are committed to not only bringing you the best in the arts but doing our part by continuing to strengthen this special community we call home. Many of the exhibits

T.A.G. organizes are philanthropic exhibitions i.e. fund raisers.  Many of the non-profit beneficiaries are arts related however, some are not.

T.A.G. opened in June 2004 and in September we hosted the Wilmington Concert Association’s Painted Cello Auction. This event helped to raise over $30,000.

The Wilmington Concert Association is responsible for continually bringing wonderful cultural, musical & theatrical events to Wilmington.

In mid-November through mid-December 2004 we teamed up with a group of independent artists and crafts people for a month long event we called “Deck the Walls” Holiday gift show and Fund Raiser for Dreams Of Wilmington.

Dreams of Wilmington is a non-profit organization dedicated to the development of moral character and emotional health in children, ages 8-18, through involvement in the arts. They provide free of charge, high quality arts education to economically disadvantaged children who may not otherwise have the opportunity.

We began 2005 taking a cue from the creative artist’s at Modart in San Diego, California, who created the non-profit Keep-A-Breast Foundation.  Keep A Breast-Wilmington was a show that combined the hope of artistic expression, the spirit of collaboration, and a celebration of the human body, all with the focus of raising breast cancer awareness in the community.

Fifty volunteers (mostly women) had plaster casts made of their torsos. These “busts” were then given to 50 talented local artists as blank canvases from which they created art they felt appropriate. The finished pieces were displayed at T.A.G. between Jan.7-14,

a silent auction for 25 of the 50 “busts” ran from Jan.7-14 and a live auction was held for the remaining 25 torsos at T.A.G. on Jan.14, 2005. We were thrilled to be able to deliver a check for more then $32000 to New Hanover Regional Health Network, to be equally divided between the Costal Care Van and the NHR Healing Arts Network.

The Costal Care Van is a mobile unit that is equipped with mammography equipment which brings screening to several thousand residents that might not otherwise have access.  The NHR Healing Arts Network which offers patients a variety of therapies which include art, music, movement, horticulture, creative writing and massage. And through this program patients are provided assistance by Cosmetologists in overcoming the balding effects of chemotherapy.

We were also able and honored to bestow a potion of the proceeds to Keep-A-Breast Foundation.
